Visiting Researcher at Murdoch University

Dr. Arun Shastry was a visiting researcher at the Centre for Comparative Genomics, Murdoch University and performed preliminary studies in anti-sense oligonucleotide mediated exon skipping studies in vitro and in vivo using peptide morpholino (PMO), 2’O-Methyl antisense oligomers (2OMe) and locked nucleic acid (LNA) based chemistries in mdx mice myoblast evaluating their efficacy at mRNA and protein level.

Dr. Shastry also met with Dr. Barry Marshall, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2005 for his work on Helicobacter pylori and its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.
